Why this masque feels different

Most clay masques purify by stripping. Mud Masque was built to do the harder thing — draw out without drying.

Typical Clay Masque
Single clay, single action
Often strips the skin barrier
Focused on oil absorption alone
Leaves skin tight and dehydrated
Mud Masque
Fuller's earth + enzymatic papaya + pumice
Hyaluronic acid cushions every rinse
Purifies, brightens, exfoliates, hydrates
Mineral, botanical, and fermented actives together

Clinical Actives. Botanical Soul.

Eleven botanicals.

One purifying ceremony.

Fuller's Earth draws out impurities and excess oil. Kasturi Turmeric brightens and evens tone without staining. Papaya enzymes dissolve dullness. Pumice refines during rinse. Neem purifies and calms. Aloe and hyaluronic acid cushion the formula so skin finishes balanced — never stripped.

The Ritual's Promise

Your pores don't clog overnight. They fill — slowly, quietly — with everything the day leaves behind.

Sunscreen, pollution, hard water, the humid residue of a long day. Dullness doesn't announce itself. It settles. Congestion builds beneath the surface long before it shows.

And so

The Mud Masque draws it all back out.

Inside the Ritual

Five botanicals. One purifying ceremony.

No theatre. No filler. Every botanical named, every mechanism explained.

01

Fuller's Earth

Solum Fullonum

Mineral-rich clay that pulls oil, pollution, and daily congestion from deep within the pore.

02

Kasturi Turmeric

Curcuma Aromatica

The rare wild turmeric — brightens and evens tone without staining. Revered in South Asian ritual.

03

Neem

Melia Azadirachta

Our founding botanical. Purifying, calming, and naturally antibacterial — the root of every PureNeem formula.

04

Papaya

Carica Papaya

Papain enzyme gently dissolves the dull surface layer — biological exfoliation without abrasion.

05

Green Tea

Camellia Sinensis

Antioxidant armour. Neutralises free radicals and calms inflammation beneath the surface.

The Ceremony

Three steps. Ten quiet minutes.

A ritual designed to be earned — not rushed. Set the phone down. Let the clay do the work.

I
1 minute

Apply

Smooth an even layer across cleansed skin with fingertips. Avoid the eye and lip area. Neck and décolletage welcome.

II
10 minutes

Rest

Let the clay draw out what doesn't belong. The masque will lighten and tighten as it works — that's the signal.

III
1 minute

Reveal

Rinse with warm water and circular motion. Press dry with a clean towel. Follow with Luminara C serum.

The Cadence

Once weekly for balanced skin. Twice weekly for congested or city-worn complexions.

Derived Preservation

Synthetic Fragrance
Botanical Mineral Fermented Base
01 Aqua Purified Water Base

What It Does

The foundation of every water-based formula. Carries the actives into the skin and sets the spreadable texture of the masque.

Why It's Here

Purified, deionised water — the canvas every other ingredient is painted onto. Ensures a smooth, cooling application that glides across the skin.

02 Solum Fullonum Fuller's Earth · Multani Mitti Purifying Clay

What It Does

A mineral-rich clay with exceptional oil absorption and a natural affinity for impurities. Draws pollutants and excess sebum up and out through capillary action.

Why It's Here

The centrepiece of the masque. Gently lifts a day's worth of congestion from deep within the pore — without the stripping harshness of bentonite or kaolin alone.

03 Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract Neem Purifying Botanical

What It Does

An ancient Ayurvedic botanical celebrated for its purifying, antibacterial, and skin-balancing properties. Rich in nimbidin and azadirachtin.

Why It's Here

Our founding botanical. Neem is the root of every PureNeem formula and lends the masque its clarifying edge — calming breakouts while the clay does the visible work.

04 Curcuma Aromatica Root Powder Kasturi Turmeric · Wild Turmeric Brightening

What It Does

The rare wild cousin of culinary turmeric. Brightens tone and supports an even complexion — without the yellow stain that common turmeric leaves behind.

Why It's Here

Revered in South Asian bridal rituals for a reason. Kasturi is luminous where common turmeric is loud — lower in curcumin, richer in aromatic compounds, gentler on the skin.

05 Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Aloe Vera Soothing · Hydrating

What It Does

A traditional soothing hydrator. Calms inflamed skin while delivering trace minerals, amino acids, and polysaccharides that hold moisture at the surface.

Why It's Here

Balances the purifying pull of the clay so the ritual never feels stripping. The yin to Fuller's Earth's yang — absorbent meets emollient.

06 Carica Papaya Fruit Extract Papaya Enzymatic Exfoliant

What It Does

A natural source of papain — an enzyme that gently dissolves the dull outer layer of dead cells, loosening the bonds that hold them to fresh skin below.

Why It's Here

Biological exfoliation without abrasion. Reveals the fresh layer the clay alone cannot — softer, brighter, and ready for what you layer next.

07 Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract Green Tea Antioxidant

What It Does

Rich in polyphenols — particularly EGCG — that neutralise free radicals and calm low-grade inflammation beneath the surface of the skin.

Why It's Here

A quiet shield against the oxidative weight of daily city life. Pollution ages skin. This helps undo the damage — cumulatively, with every ritual.

08 Ricinus Communis Seed Oil Castor Oil Emollient

What It Does

A thick, cushioning oil rich in ricinoleic acid. Softens the skin and helps the masque glide evenly across the complexion without patchy spots.

Why It's Here

Keeps the texture rich, never dry or cakey, while the clay does its work. The reason this masque feels nourishing, not punishing.

09 Pumice Volcanic Stone Physical Refiner

What It Does

Finely milled volcanic stone. Adds subtle physical polish during rinse-off — a whisper of texture, not a scrub.

Why It's Here

A gentle final refinement. Nothing sharp. Nothing abrasive. Just enough resistance to leave skin smoother than when you started.

10 Leuconostoc / Radish Root Ferment Filtrate Leucidal Liquid Natural Preservative

What It Does

A natural antimicrobial peptide produced by fermenting radish root with friendly Leuconostoc bacteria. Approved by Ecocert and COSMOS-natural.

Why It's Here

The preservative that lets us say no to phenoxyethanol, parabens, and sodium benzoate. Keeps the masque safe and stable for twelve months after opening.

11 Sodium Hyaluronate Hyaluronic Acid Hydrator

What It Does

The lower-molecular sodium salt of hyaluronic acid. Bio-fermented from wheat. Holds up to one thousand times its weight in water.

Why It's Here

A hidden cushion of hydration buried inside a purifying formula. So skin feels balanced, not drawn, after rinse-off.

Frequently Asked Questions

Considered Answers

Everything you wanted to ask about the ritual.

Honest answers to the questions we hear most — every botanical named, every mechanism explained, every claim transparent and traceable.

01

How often should I use the Mud Masque?

Once weekly for balanced or drier skin. Twice weekly for congested, oily, or city-worn complexions. More isn't better — Solum Fullonum (Fuller's Earth) is a powerful mineral clay, and the skin needs time to rebalance between rituals.

Think of it as a reset, not a daily product. Rotate it into your routine on the evenings when you want to slow down.

02

Will this masque dry out my skin?

No — and this is the single thing that sets it apart from most clay masques on the market. Fuller's Earth pulls out impurities, but Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, and Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil cushion the formula so skin finishes balanced, not stripped.

You'll feel a gentle tightening as the clay works — that's normal and expected. After rinsing, skin should feel soft, refreshed, and hydrated.

03

Can I use it with retinol, Vitamin C, or AHAs?

Yes, with spacing. The Mud Masque is gentle, but the actives in your wider routine deserve their own evening to work.

  • Retinol nights: skip the masque that evening. Use it the following night instead. PureNeem Rejuvence Night Cream contains retinol — never layer the masque on a Rejuvence evening.
  • Vitamin C (Luminara C): perfect pairing — apply PureNeem Luminara C Radiance Serum immediately after rinsing the masque off for deeper absorption into freshly purified skin.
  • AHAs / BHAs: alternate evenings. Never layer on the same night.
  • Coco & Char Exfoliant: these are the two purifying products in the range — use them on different days, never the same session.
04

Is it safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

The Mud Masque contains no Retinol, no Salicylic Acid (BHA), no Glycolic Acid (AHA), and no essential oils flagged for pregnancy avoidance. All eleven ingredients are considered safe for topical use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

That said, we always recommend confirming with your obstetrician or dermatologist before introducing any new product during pregnancy — skin sensitivity can shift unpredictably.

05

My skin is sensitive. Will it react?

The formula is designed to be gentler than most clay masques — no Bentonite, no fragrance, no essential oils, no drying alcohols. Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice and Sodium Hyaluronate are built in specifically to calm the skin during purification.

If you have active rosacea, eczema flare-ups, or a compromised barrier, we recommend waiting for your skin to settle before introducing a clay masque. When in doubt: patch-test on the jawline for 10 minutes before a full application.

06

Will the turmeric stain my skin or towels?

No — and this is why we chose Curcuma Aromatica (Kasturi Turmeric) over culinary Curcuma Longa. Kasturi is the wild, aromatic variety revered in South Asian bridal rituals precisely because it brightens without the yellow stain that ordinary turmeric leaves.

That said, the masque itself is a deep warm clay tone. We recommend rinsing with a dark-coloured washcloth or tissue for your first few uses, just to be safe.

07

When will I see results?

After the first use: skin feels smoother, cleaner, more refined. Pores appear visibly less congested.

After 3–4 uses: tone begins to even, dullness lifts, congestion around the nose and chin eases. The combined action of Carica Papaya Fruit Extract (gentle enzymatic exfoliation) and Pumice (mineral micro-polish) compounds with each use.

After 6–8 weeks of consistent use: the cumulative benefit — clearer, brighter, more balanced skin that holds its own between rituals.

08

Where does the Mud Masque sit in my routine?

After cleansing, before everything else. The ideal sequence on a masque evening:

  • Cleanse with Neemra Clarifying Facial Cleanser.
  • Apply Mud Masque to clean, slightly damp skin. Rest for 10 minutes.
  • Rinse with warm water and press dry.
  • Layer Luminara C Radiance Serum to drive Vitamin C, Niacinamide, and Alpha Arbutin into freshly purified skin.
  • Finish with Rejuvence Night Cream (on non-retinol nights) or Mucina Silk Hydration Cream for a gentler, hydration-focused finish.
09

Is it vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes to both. The Mud Masque contains no animal-derived ingredients. Neither the finished product nor any individual ingredient has been tested on animals — by us or by our manufacturer.

Eight of our nine products are vegan. Only Mucina Silk Hydration Cream (snail mucin) sits outside that standard, and it's labelled clearly.

10

How should I store it, and how long does it last?

Store in a cool, dry place — away from direct sunlight and out of the humid heat of the shower. The bathroom counter is fine; the shower shelf is not.

Shelf life: 24 months unopened. Once opened: 12 months, preserved naturally by Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate (Leucidal Liquid) — a fermentation-derived natural preservative — so you'll never see phenoxyethanol, parabens, or synthetic stabilisers on the label.

11

What's the difference between Fuller's Earth, Bentonite, and Kaolin clay?

The three most-used cosmetic clays differ in mineral composition, absorbency, and how aggressively they work on the skin.

  • Fuller's Earth (Solum Fullonum): the clay used in Mud Masque. Magnesium-rich, traditionally known in South Asian skincare as Multani Mitti ("mud from Multan"). Strong oil-absorbing capacity with naturally brightening minerals — used in Indian beauty rituals for centuries for clarity and tone.
  • Bentonite: the most absorbent of the three — derived from volcanic ash. Powerful but can be drying for dry or sensitive skin. Often the active in mass-market detox masques.
  • Kaolin: the gentlest — white clay used in masques for sensitive or mature skin. Mild oil absorbency, minimal tightening sensation, but also less purifying impact.

Mud Masque pairs Fuller's Earth's absorbing power with hydration support (Hyaluronic Acid, Aloe Vera, Castor Oil) — getting the deep purifying benefit of a strong clay without the dryness Bentonite-based masques typically cause. PureNeem's Ayurvedic-clinical fusion philosophy applied to clay masking: heritage Multani Mitti paired with named clinical actives in full INCI transparency.
